SMELLS LIKE: wizard’s chess, warm knit blankets & smoldering embers

This Common Room fragrance is warm and regal- as befitting the House of the Lion. Hints of smoke combines with soft notes of fabric, as it clings to the velvet of the plush, burgundy furniture and cozy knit blankets, askew over chair-backs, telling of many a late night amongst friends. Embers smolder still within the massive hearth and evidence of last night’s “game night”—a beautifully carved wooden wizard’s chess set—sits out on the table in front of the fireplace, as do large, mostly-finished mugs. The scene is somehow finished perfectly by the aged-but-inviting tapestries on the walls, creating a room that embodies comfort. A light Autumn breeze and wafts though the room from an open tower window, fresh and crisp alongside the rays of a golden sunset.

When tackling the Gryffindor Common Room I really wanted to elevate the experience of being inside- almost hitting it with a shot of extra “dark academia”. After all, it’s not just a warm and cozy space, but a medieval tower which should feel a bit grand. When crafting the fragrance I focused in on the personality of the “house of the lion” too—I think the spicy saffron and amber really captures their passion and fire. This is a cousin of Great Hall but far less smoke centric and with a bit less of an “old wood” feel, since here I wanted to bring forward notes of the plush furniture and knit fabrics. If you know the smell of MFK’s “Baccarat Rouge 540” you may recognize similar notes here!

Our perfumes are hand blended using luxury grade, skin safe fragrance oils combined with luxury grade perfumer’s alcohol, a few drops of vitamin e & a few drops of fractioned coconut oil. The perfume blend is then colored with skin-safe, ecologically friendly dye, for a little extra magic!

Our .33oz (10ml) rollerballs are packaged in thin, rectangular glass vials made in Italy and feature illustrated soft-touch labels with striking copper foil detailing, which arrive individually packaged in black kraft boxes.
